SYDNEY TRIP

Having lived in Melbourne, Australia, for almost 5 months, I travelled finally to Sydney for the first time, on 24th december 2008. A Sydney trip has been always my dream and through out the trip I was living in dream.

Avalon Airport is the Melbourne's Domestic Airiport. Only Jetstar flight service is currently running from this airport. It takes only 30 minutes to reach Sydney from Melbourne.

Sydney Airport is one of the oldest continually operated airports in the world,[2] and the busiest airport in Australia.

It was the 28th busiest airport in the world in 2003, but has not been in the top 30 since then.

Sydney is the largest city in Australia, and the state capital of New South Wales. Sydney has a metropolitan area population of approximately 4.34 million and an area of approximately 12,000 square kilometres.

Sydney is one of the most multicultural cities in the world, reflected in its role as a major destination for immigrants to Australia.

The best view of this bridge is from opera house.

One of the main attraction in Sydney is the Harbour Bridge. The Sydney Harbour Bridge is a steel arch bridge across Sydney Harbour that carries rail, vehicular and pedestrian traffic between the Sydney central business district (CBD) and the North Shore.

The dramatic view of the bridge, the harbour, and the nearby Sydney Opera House is an iconic image of both Sydney and Australia. The bridge is locally nicknamed "The Coathanger" because of its arch-based design.

Near to the Harbour Bridge, there is Sydney Opera House. The Sydney Opera House is a major presenting venue for Opera Australia, The Australian Ballet, the Sydney Theatre Company and the Sydney Symphony. Its power supply is equivalent to that of a town of 25,000 people, and is distributed by 645 kilometres (401 miles) of electrical cable.

Planning for the Sydney Opera House began in the late 1940s, but no body could come up with a genuine design. later a competition was launched by Cahill on 13 September 1955 and received 233 entries, representing architects from 32 countries. The design of Jørn Utzon was selected from the entries, but he later left himself due to the political pressure. The Opera House was formally opened by Elizabeth II, Queen of Australia, on 20 October 1973, with a large crowd in attendance. The architect, Jørn Utzon, was not invited to the ceremony, nor was his name mentioned.

After 3 days visit, I left Sydney to Melbourne.

Once again I have gone to Sydney, this time for the new year celebrations.

Great Ocean Road Trip

If anybody asks me which is the most beautiful place in this world, I would really say it is the Great Ocean Road. The Great Ocean Road is a 243 km stretch of road along the south-eastern coast of Australia between the Victorian cities of Torquay and Warrnambool. The road was constructed to provide work for returning soldiers and dedicated as a Memorial to those killed in the First World War.It is one of Australia's great scenic coastline drives.
The first trip after I reached melbourne will be special and if it is Great Ocean Road trip, then it much obvious that it is the best in my life.

The view of the GOR in the evening is magical.

Starting 100km south west of Melbourne the Great Ocean Road works its way along the stunning coastline of Victoria's south-west. It is recognised as one of the world's most scenic drives. For most of the distance the road hugs the coastline.

Along this stretch of the Great Ocean Road is an amazing collection of rock sculptures such as 'The Twelve Apostles' - huge stone pillars looming out of the surf - and 'London Bridge', a rocky promontory arch carved out by the sea.

The view of sea from the mountains is really enchanting.

One of the major attraction is the Cape Otway light house. Cape Otway Lightstation is the oldest surving lighthouse on mainland Australia and it began operating in 1848.

There are several lighthouses through out the stretch of Great Ocean Road. Many are still fully functional and offer some of the most spectacular viewing point out to sea. Guided tours are available on some if you wish to climb to the top.
.
Huge rocks made of lime stone are so much attractive and looks divine.

I took a helicopter ride over the 12 apostles. I felt like dream come true. This is also the first time I am having a helicopter ride.

The leaving sun gives the entire area a charismatic touch. Photos taken using any camera, even using 1 MP camera will have a photoshop touch.

I will never forget this trip and this place. This trip to great ocean road will always be one of the best thing happen to me in my life.

We left GOR to Melbourne after a breif stay of 2 days.

Nandi Hills

Nandi hills , about 70 kms from Bangalore city , is one of a good place for outing. From Devanahalli, you have to go 10kms towards Hyderabad road. There is the road to Nandi Hills, which is towards the left. You can easily skip that well made road and go forward , you can see somany grape cultivations and you can buy fresh grapes from the roadside shops. In Nandi hills , we can see professional people doing paragliding.Wow !!....To fly , either you should be a proffessional guy or you need to undergo their training classes. The road is absolutely good. There is no good restauraunts in Nandi hills, so it will be better if you have food from Devanahalli itself. On the way , while going up hill , there are couple of U-pin Curves...Its nice to drive you car in such a good road.Just before reaching the hills , you can see an old fort. You have to take tickets before you enter the top most part of the hills. There is not much to see over there , but sitting on the rocks , looking at sky and all those depth is absolutely wonderful. Sunrise is the best part of Nandi hills.
